Our most recent growth project, Rapid Growth Project 5, will take installed capacity at our Western Australian Iron Ore operations to 205mpta by the second half of calendar year 2011.

As such, we require an action-oriented professional to provide guidance and support in the drive toward Zero Harm.
Position Synopsis
We are now seeking a suitably experienced environmental professional to join our team supporting and servicing the front line functions of production, maintenance and rail. Reporting to the Superintendent Environment-Contract Mines, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the BHP Billiton Iron Sustainable Development Policy, statutory requirements and other environmental commitments relevant to our operations are adhered to.
In performing this role you will be responsible for, but not limited too:
* Assisting with the maintenance of environmental management systems;
* Providing advice on environmental aspects to line areas;
* Promoting environmental awareness;
* Liaising with Government representatives; and
* Conducting environmental audits, and leading specific projects as required.

Skills and Experience
We are seeking a person with an Environmental Science qualification or equivalent along with relevant industry experience. Well-developed interpersonal skills are vital to the role. In addition, experience in the management of complex environmental issues will be highly regarded.
Location
The successful applicant will work on a 9/5 FIFO roster from Perth and will be offered an attractive salary package, including an incentive bonus, generous superannuation and long-service provisions.
