Location: Canada The Diamonds and Specialty Products Customer Sector Group (CSG) includes our diamond, and titanium minerals businesses as well as our potash projects. Our principal operations are located in Canada and South Africa.
An outstanding opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and experienced project engineering professional to become part of our talented team. Reporting to the Mining and Infrastructure Manager, you will support the design, contract tendering, contract execution, and project management of shaft sinking activities as part of the Jansen Project. This will involve ensuring that safety management plans are developed and reviewed, that a suitable contractor is selected, and a strong project team is in place. Contract value is expected to be US$300M. The role will manage the works on site in developing the shaft and associated hoisting structures.
Key responsibilities include:
• Zero Harm - manage contractor to ensure this achieved. Includes Field Leadership, sufficient planning and all safety aspects of mgt plan
• Planning - ensure that the works are well planned and developed to ensure efficient running
• Communication - liaise with all stakeholders to ensure alignment and support of the shaft sinking works
• Execution - oversee the execution of the shaft sink including mobilisation, setup and demob
• Contract Management - ensure the works are executed safely, efficiently and within budget
Essential requirements:
• Significant Shaft engineering, design and construction experience
• Proven experience in project engineering or project management
• Technical knowledge around shaft excavation methodologies
