Location: Canada The Diamonds and Specialty Products Customer Sector Group (CSG) includes our diamond and titanium minerals businesses as well as our potash projects. Our principal operations are located in Canada and South Africa.
An outstanding opportunity exists for a motivated and forward-thinking, team-player to become part of our talented team. Reporting to the Port and Logistics Manager, the Sustainable Development Superintendent is responsible for leading the Health, Safety, Environment and Community (HSEC) areas of the Port and Logistics Project.
The successful applicant will become part of the small team passionate about creating a new paradigm in the transportation and transhipment of bulk potash products. The position will suit a self-starter, who will embrace the wide-variety and accountability associated with the role, as responsibility for External Affairs, Permit Approvals and Risk Management services, to support the Port and Logistics team, are also within the role’s portfolio.
Key responsibilities include:
• Develop a detailed H&S Risk Assessment for the Potash Port and Logistics Project
• Provide guidance to the E&C consultants on risk assessments and the development of the Environment and Social Impact Assessment
• Prepare a HSEC Management and Monitoring Plan, including the management strategy for Greenhouse Gases
• Actively monitor development, construction and/or environmental site activities and communicate with field personnel
• Develop the required facilities Closure Plans
• Develop an External Relations Program for the Potash Port and Logistics Project consistent with both the Potash Development and D&SP strategy
• Coordinate, prepare and attend community consultation sessions with stakeholders groups
• Identify and approach as required, all stakeholders, particularly First Nations, NGOs and communities impacted by the project
• Work with the E&C consultants to ensure that Stakeholder Assessments meet BHPB requirements
• Facilitate Risk Workshops and conduct Risk Evaluations
• Develop and mange the Risk Register, along with the Risk Control Action Plan for the Port and Logistics project
• Develop and execute Work Plans for the Risk Management activities in the Definition and Execution Phases of the project
Essential requirements:
• Practical experience in sustainable development roles. Previous experience in permitting processes, in mining or a relevant resource based industry, will be strongly considered
