The Resource Development Group (RDG) is committed to adding value to BMA’s operations by providing expertise in Exploration and Geological Services, Strategic Mine Planning, Underground Strategy, and Development and Research. The Geological Services Team operates within the Resource Development Group and is currently seeking an experienced Principal Resource Evaluation Geologist.
Based in Brisbane, The successful applicant will be responsible for creating value for BMA’s shareholders by providing timely, fit for purpose geological data, resource models / estimates, and geological evaluation for exploration and mine planning, project development and mine operations. Reporting to the Manager - Geological Services, responsibilities will include:
* Leading the geological data management and resource evaluation team of geologists and data analysts.
* BMA Practise Leader for data management, resource modelling, estimation and reporting to BHP Billiton, JORC Code and Coal Guidelines standards.
* Provision of geological input to feasibility studies and business improvement initiatives.
* Geological and coal quality support to customers in operating mines and other departments, ensuring effective management of resource risk.
* Representing BMA in the wider BHP Billiton resource evaluation community of practise.
Tertiary qualified in Geosciences, the successful applicant will have extensive experience in exploration, open cut and underground mine geology, coal quality / coal preparation, geo statistics, grade control and reserve reconciliation. A team player with effective leadership and communication skills, you will demonstrate proven experience developing successful relationships with various stakeholders including exploration contractors and mine site personnel, effectively disseminating geological knowledge. Additionally, you will have strong skills in project / contract management, budgeting and cost control skills, ensuring the timely delivery of resource models, estimates and supporting documentation. A high level of computer literacy in Microsoft software and geological databases is required, with demonstrable experience in Vulcan modelling and XPAC mine planning software.
