Position Synopsis

We invite applications from highly self-motivated and team-spirited individuals for the position of Mechanical Maintenance Project Officer within Nelson Point Outflow Maintenance to provide technical support, problem solving expertise, advice, solutions on plant delays and equipment failures as well as assisting with the resolution of safety issues, and to demonstrate a willingness to achieve business objectives.

Operating in a climate of continuous improvement, you will facilitate the diagnosing, reliability and repair of plant and equipment. Your focus will be on achieving the highest attainable availability of all plant and equipment to operate at optimum levels.

Accepting ownership of your tasks, you will apply your high level of technical skill and expertise in carrying out the following responsibilities:

* Developing, implementing and reviewing reliability improvements, focusing on defect elimination and continuous improvement;
* Provide technical support to maintenance and operations;
* Providing input into future sustaining capital projects;
* Ensuring that change management is carried out for any mechanical plant alterations;
* Undertaking fault finding, repair and maintenance work on plant & equipment;
* Ensure thorough and accurate documentation completion and data entry;
* Carry out checks on plant & equipment as required;
* Undertake cleanup, dust suppression and housekeeping activities; and
* Utilising computer based maintenance systems.

Skills & Experience

To be considered, it is essential that you have a mechanical trade qualification, with experience, preferably in the maintenance areas of Material Handling, Car Dumpers, Conveyors, Bucketwheel Reclaimers, Stackers, Shiploaders, Screens or similar heavy industry. An "A" class driver’s licence and proficiency with computers are also necessary. Committed to continuously achieving the required maintenance standards, you will display excellent fault finding skills and a sound working and technical knowledge.

Your effective communication skills will be applied to daily reporting meetings, and providing advice and support to maintenance and operations. Your technical strengths will be complemented by good interpersonal skills, effective written and oral communication capabilities, and a proven ability to operate with limited supervision.

Serious contenders must be able to demonstrate their commitment to taking personal responsibility for the achievement of the production plan in an Injury/ Incident free environment.

Location

This is a residential role, based in Port Hedland in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Located on the coast, Port Hedland is the largest regional centre in the North West, close to Broome, Karratha and Karijini National Park. The 15,000-strong population enjoys well-established education service, entertainment, sporting, shopping and medical facilities, and a strong sense of community.
