Senior Production Engineer – 28/28 Rotation Position Syria
Tanganyika Oil Company Ltd.1 is an international oil and gas exploration and production company with interests in exploration and development properties in Syria. Tanganyika operates through its wholly-owned subsidiary, SIPC (Syria) Limited. Tanganyika has made significant achievements with the appraisal of value enhancing opportunities in Syria which has included testing enhanced oil recovery ("EOR") techniques and exploration drilling. The stated objectives of the Company include the consistent growth of reserves and production. On December 19th, 2008, Tanganyika became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sinopec International Petroleum Exploration and Production Corporation (“SIPC”). SIPC is a wholly owned subsidiary of China Petrochemical Corporation ("Sinopec Group") and undertakes overseas investments and operations in the upstream oil and gas sector. Sinopec Group is China's largest producer and supplier of oil products and major petrochemical products. Prior to being acquired by Sinopec, Tanganyika was publicly listed with shares trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange and Depository Receipts trading on the Nordic exchange.
Senior Production Engineer – 28/28 Rotation Position – Syria
Reporting to the Asset Team Manager the Senior Production Engineer will work directly with the Engineering, Production, and Geological staff members to administer the prudent exploitation and reservoir management of the OPC Syrian oil fields. The duties will include — but are not limited — to the following activities:
Responsibilities:
�� Planning, programming and control of all production Engineering processes and activities and well intervention operations.
�� Manage all aspects of downhole pumps. Particular importance will be placed on the optimization of the wells by means of determining the optimal pump speed based on the IPR curves, taking pump efficiency into consideration. Reservoir management must be considered in the decision-making process.
�� Engineer optimal type and size of downhole and surface artificial lift equipment, ensuring the equipment is and will be operated within the allowable equipment limitations. This includes making recommendations on pump setting depths and initial operating parameters.
�� Production optimization using NODAL analysis and other engineering tools.
�� Identify wells for workover and providing economic and technical justification for the type of workover to be conducted. Workovers include, but are not limited to, uphole re-completions, stimulations, re-activations, gas or water shut-off, and geophysical diagnostic works.
�� Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve well productivity and capacity.
�� Develop well testing programs (drawdown or build-up) and follow-up with the co-ordination and supervision of the test programs. This will be followed up with either performing the analysis on the transient and psuedo-steady state pressure and production data, or overseeing the analysis being conducted by a third party specialist.
�� Assure availability of the surface and subsurface equipment necessary to maintain and put well on production; according to well equipment Workover program and Drilling Plan, without incurring losses of time.
�� Minimize shut-down time of producing wells.
�� Elaboration of programs to make the stimulations, completions and Workover of wells, so that the success makes sure the work of the economic and safe way.
�� Monitor daily reports and organize/coordinate electronic well services database.
�� Full commitment and leadership with HSE standards and practices during production and
Workover operations.
�� Administrative tasks related to Engineering group and activities.
�� Training and supervision of National Production and Workover Engineers.
�� Monitor OPEX budgets of production, completions and Workover.
�� Other tasks as per field requirements.
Qualifications:
�� International experience is essential
�� B. Sc. Degree in Petroleum Engineering
�� Exposure to the operational problems as presented by thermal recovery schemes and the production of heavy oil from within carbonate horizons is certainly an asset.
�� Specific knowledge of Production Facilities, Heavy Oil Production, Well Stimulations, Completion, Workover, Well Testing, Artificial Lift Systems, Formation Evaluation and Basic Reservoir Knowledge, MS Office software, Special Oil Petroleum Engineering software
�� Proficiency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Arabic beneficial.
�� Minimum 10 years in oil industry; experience in a desert climate working environment desirable.
�� Good team leader.
�� ‘B’ category Driving License is mandatory.
