The Project Development Group (PDG) is tasked with becoming a Centre of Excellence for the undertaking of studies and delivery of significant and sustaining capital projects within BMA. PDG provides project delivery services to BMA through the management of all phases of the investment life cycle.
We are currently seeking an experienced Project Specialist, focusing on the Front End Loading (FEL) phases of our Sustaining Capital Projects. Reporting to the Manager of Sustaining Projects, the Project Specialist - FEL will be responsible for ensuring a coordinated and standardised approach to FEL activities across the project portfolio. This position will advise and mentor Project Managers and Engineers through the approvals process ensuring that fit for purpose studies are completed and meet the BMA and BHPB approvals framework.
The successful applicant will also focus on extracting synergies by packaging similar work with contractors / consultants, ensuring contracting strategies consider projected market conditions and forces. This role will further ensure key learning’s or engineering from similar projects are utilised to avoid timely rework, whilst ensuring that the portfolio is fully planned and resourced with key milestones and portfolio KPI’s identified. Responsibilities also include developing strategies to ensure Front End Loading work is completed prior to the submission of Project Initiation Applications as part of the annual budget process.
With extensive front end loading project management experience, the successful applicant will have worked on multiple mining capital projects, having been involved in the entire process from feasibility through to execution. Degree qualified, you will have demonstrated working knowledge of owners’ team project management, having previously overseen EPCM contractors and third party service providers. Proven experience in developing successful working relationships with site based personnel is required, demonstrating effective management and communication skills.
