We require a results-driven and customer-focused mining professional to assist the EKATI Diamond Mine in extracting maximum value from its mineral inventory. You will be part of a small, high performance team leading the continued growth and development of Canada’s first diamond mining operation, with exposure to diverse aspects across the business.
Reporting to the Superintendent - Long Range Planning & Projects you will actively participate in the generation and delivery of multiple Selection (pre-feasibility) Phase Investment Studies. You will provide technical expertise and input to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of EKATI’s long term growth by ensuring safe, cost-effective, engineered and environmentally sustainable designs. You will participate in the integration of resource knowledge, geotechnical and civil engineering, pit and fleet optimisation studies and mine design for closure, resulting in the selection and delivery of the optimum development options.
The successful candidate will have a combination of the following expertise: a degree in mining engineering with a minimum of 5 years operational and/or planning experience, or be para-professionals with significant directly relevant industry experience. Critical to the role is proven project management skills and experience in the technical aspects of mine engineering, preferably in hard rock Open Pit mines. Strong communication, project management, and interpersonal skills are essential. Abilities in the effective application of Vulcan, Whittle, Talpac and XPAC software are advantageous. A solid understanding of engineering and economic principles will be complemented by the willingness to learn, to drive change and improve current standards.
This staff position is located in our Yellowknife Office with the hours of employment being 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday. Regular travel to the EKATI Diamond Mine is required. The incumbent is expected to reside in Yellowknife. Competitive salary and benefits are available to the right candidate.
