Our client, an oil refining company, located on the West Coast of the US, is a leading supplier of motor, aviation and marine fuels and asphalt.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to support refinery operations and lead engineering projects at their refinery on the US west coast.
They are seeking a Senior Process Engineer with refinery, petrochemical or chemical production experience to lead process optimization, as well as identify and develop opportunities for process improvement and upgrading of refinery processing equipment.
The Senior Process Engineer will also play a critical role in the management of capital projects, including developing project plans and scope-of-work, justifying project budgets, and overseeing the project to completion, commissioning and start-up.
This position is ideal for a Process Engineer with experience in refinery or petrochemical plant operations who is seeking a high visibility opportunity with a fast-paced organization, and who has an interest in spearheading continuous process improvement and project management.
This position is on the West Coast.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Provide technical support for the operating departments of the refinery, including operations, maintenance, EH&S, and the engineering group.
Upgrade, update and maintain standards for production processes and product quality in the refinery.
Monitor production unit performance in the refinery, evaluate unit performance and lead process optimization studies and audits.
Develop and maintain operational benchmarks for the refinery.
Identify, develop and implement engineering and capital projects to optimize, improve and update refinery operations.
Plan capital projects, including developing the justification of the project’s objectives, goals and budget.
Manage all phases of engineering projects, including process design, cost estimating, commissioning and start-up.
Prepare and issue specifications for instruments, controls and equipment used in the refinery.
Solicit and evaluate bids from outside contractors.
Manage the bid selection process, award bids and manage on-site activities of outside contractors.
REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
BS degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline
5+ years of processing experience. Experience in refinery or petrochemical production preferred.
Excellent project management and organizational skills
