Location: Australia Blackwater Mine is one of the world's largest open-cut coal operations, producing 13 mtpa of metallurgical and thermal coal and is located just outside Blackwater. We are seeking a Prestrip Supervisor to manage a shift of operating personnel. Main duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the safe and effective management of multi-skilled work teams in order to optimise pit output, quality and costs in accordance with the Company’s policies and objectives.
Reporting to the Senior Co-ordinator - Prestrip, the successful candidate will be a dynamic leader with a strong safety focus and the confidence to involve their people in all elements of the work. An extremely strong emphasis on safety is essential, as is the ability to challenge the status quo.
The successful candidates will ideally demonstrate:
• A proven record of commitment to safety and the environment, and a track record of continuous safety improvements;
• Ability to build, lead and motivate high performance multi-skilled teams with the goal of achieving agreed targets;
• Extensive experience in a mining operations, specifically surface mining methods, heavy plant operation, principles of earthworks construction and highwall and spoil pile stability.
• Previous experience as a supervisor;
• Communication and interpersonal skills to interact with production orientated personnel such as Maintenance, Mine Planning and contractors.
• Ability to plan, organise and coordinate a variety of tasks within a changing environment.
It will be an advantage to have:
* Well developed written, verbal and computer literacy skills;
* Ability to utilise computer systems for safety, costs etc.;
* Experience fulfilling statutory duties;
* Extensive operational planning and supervisory experience.
