As our Mid Term Planning Engineer, you will report to the Resource Optimisation Superintendent and have a lead role in effective planning and continuous improvement of the mining sequence to maximise resource utilisation and production through safe, effective and efficient mining methods.
Opportunities will exist for future rotation into other planning/operations roles within the Department.
Responsibilities will include:
• A commitment to safe working practices including the adherence to system compliance with all safety procedures, safe work instructions, SOPs, Coal Mining Act and Regulations and conducting reviews to monitor compliance.
• Co-ordinate and deliver all tasks relevant to the five year planning horizon including production, scheduling and associated financial analysis
• Create mid-term strip designs in accordance with established systems and processes and identify opportunities for improvement
• Develop and implement either self-initiated or self-directed project work in order to achieve site objectives.
Qualifications / Experience
* Degree in Mining Engineering or associated field
* A demonstrated high order of interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with production oriented field personnel
* Strong commitment to safety and familiarity with continuous Improvement procedures
* Experience in coal mining using open cut strip mining methods will be highly regarded
