Location: Australia BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) is a highly successful coal mining company and exporter - the biggest in Australia and the largest supplier of seaborne coking coal in the world. We have experienced strong growth and development across our coal mining operations and therefore, we are offering a number of cadetships to people interested in mining technology, computing, science, and different fields of engineering. These Cadetships offer the opportunity to further your career through on-the-job experience and a structured study program work. The Cadetship programs commence in February 2010 in our surface and underground mining operations. Motivated people with a keen interest in a career in mining are encouraged to apply.
Cadetships provide a combination of work experience and training, supported with University study to candidates motivated to develop their skills and abilities in related technical areas. Our cadetship programs are aimed at those who have completed, or who are about to complete year 12 schooling; and others with work experience, particularly in mining related areas and/or trades and who want to develop their skills to become qualified in a specific area of coal mining.
Through the application of survey instruments and technology, Mine Surveyors provide accurate and timely engineering surveys for control of drilling, stripping and mining operations. Their survey work includes set out pegs to prepare blast areas, control for truck & shovel and dragline operations, infrastructure control for road construction and, in general, anywhere mining operations are to take place. Mine Surveyors use mine planning software to establish and up-date models of mining areas and to supply accurate volumetric surveys. They manage a survey data base system and supply accurate end of month volumetric surveys, calculations and reports covering overburden removed and coal mined. They coordinate mine site aerial photography and are responsible for updating and maintaining detailed plans covering the location of existing known mine site services. The role includes assisting in the provision of survey to ensure compliance with statutory requirements associated with the Qld Government Coal Mining Safety & Health Acts and Regulations.
