Our most recent growth project, Rapid Growth Project 5, will take installed capacity at our Western Australian Iron Ore operations to 205mpta by the second half of calendar year 2011.
A dynamic and challenging opportunity exists for an enthusiastic experienced tradesperson, with proven analytical skills, to ensure compliance to all applicable statutory authorities, provide electrical technical support; scheduled maintenance, assist in electrical equipment management, investigate safety issues and perform ad hoc electrical tasks.
Position Synopsis
Operating in a climate of continuous improvement, you will actively participate in the promotion of safe working conditions and practices, ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory legislation and internal regulations.
You will apply your problem solving strengths to reviewing equipment performance, and operating and maintenance practices, with a view to optimising productivity. In addition, you will be expected to prepare technical specifications, drawings and scope of work for capital equipment purchase and major equipment refurbishment, as well as overseeing installation.
Your efforts will also be directed to assisting with developing the annual budgets and any long-term planning; ensuring that regular testing and inspections are carried out; and assisting with ensuring that training and work practices are standardised for all maintenance work groups.
In performing these functions you will have the opportunity to lead and coordinate other electrical personnel.
Skills and Experience
To be considered, you will have a Western Australian A class electrical license with a minimum of 4 years post trade experience. Strong practical experience in production systems and systems control in the mineral processing or manufacturing industry sector. A sound knowledge of the Mines Safety Inspection Act and Electrical Authority Regulations will be highly regarded.
You are a person who is driven to ensure electrical safety in the workplace and from being well organised you display a methodical, systematic approach to your work, and effective communication skills, thereby facilitating your efforts to build constructive relationships with key stakeholders.
Location
This role is based in Port Hedland and is offered on a Fly In Fly out basis from Perth on a family friendly roster. A competitive remuneration package is offered commensurate with experience, and includes performance incentive and a generous superannuation scheme, as well as other benefits.
