PURPOSE
Functional supply chain excellence leadership and effective risk management for all arrangements relating to World Wide Exploration and New Ventures activities. Develop and implement contracting strategies focused on driving HSEC best practice, optimisation of contracting services to meet business requirements, standardisation of documentation and automation, increased service levels across the Production operations. Carry out contracting process ensuring best value position is achieved for material, equipment and services on a confidential and competitive basis. Compliance with Company Governance requirements and processes and procedures. Administration of contracts for timely resolution of claims and warranty issues.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Contracting Policies, Processes and Procedures - work with all other stakeholders ( Production, IT, HSEC, tax, legal, risk, finance) to drive continuous improvement of processes & procedures emphasising standardisation where possible.
* Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers to ensure best service, commercial terms, and surety of services.
* Ensure ‘best value ‘ achieved by competitive tendering, effective negotiation and contract structure.
* Accurately quantify, classify and record Supply savings in Benefits Capture System (BCS).
* Align contractual, commercial and risk guidelines and approval policies to ensure effective governance.
* Internal/ external benchmarking activities to achieve continuos performance improvement (HSEC, QA, Cost, Schedule etc.).
* Awareness of Exploration/New Ventures operational activities and ensuring that the contracts team is working closely with Contract Sponsors/Business Users and other functions to ensure contracting processes are implemented in timely fashion to meet business requirements (Contracting Strategies, Risk Assessments, Tendering Process, Negotiation, Contract Documents etc.).
* Recommend pricing strategies and contract terms to project management required for negotiations.
* Ensure timely reporting of contract activities.
* Executes, or oversees the tendering process for all Exploration/New Ventures scopes of work, including coordination with various geologic & geophysical project teams.
* Executes, or oversees the contract execution and administration process to insure that it is being performed in accordance with contractual requirements and meets key performance metrics.
* Facilitate and resolve issues related to the contracts with the Exploration/New Ventures teams and leadership.
* Reviews and interprets contract Terms and Conditions to resolve key issues.
* Analyse reporting and operations schedules to proactively address potential problems and manage risk. Investigates solutions and establishes recovery plans.
* Prepares and issues contracts and orders as required using company tools (CCMS, SAP, GVMS) and processes.
* Proactively investigates opportunities for improvements in the Exploration/New Ventures scope that will result in value add.
* Use negotiation skills to consistently resolve disputes.
* Develops and maintains viable long-term relationships with customers and suppliers. Attends job progress meetings as required. Ensures suppliers understand expectations of the Operation.
* Identify emerging market opportunities.
* Liaise with other Contracts Specialists both within Petroleum CSG and other CSG to leverage learnings and opportunities.
* Managing vendor performance by conducting regular reviews with vendors, monitoring key performance measures especially cost reductions, resolving performance issues and generally ensuring vendors work with sites to improve overall vendor performance.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
* University degree or equivalent (Business or Supply Chain Preferred)
* MBA Desired
Experience & Technical Competencies
* Min 5 years experience in the resources or energy industry with exposure to major exploration projects in supply chain management
* Contract negotiation experience (local & international) with a detailed understanding of required contract terms, risks and benefits of variation of contract type and terms
* An understanding of upstream E&P business especially exploration and new ventures
* Understanding of Supply Chain Management in remote locations
* Superior problem solving skills

* MS Office required, SAP R3 MM highly desirable
