BASIC PURPOSE
As a key member of the global Operations and Maintenance functional team, the Operations Specialist will interface with production unit, development engineering and HSE personnel, ensuring implementation of functional requirements across our operations as well as adherence to corporate standards, policies, and guidelines. The Operations Specialist will also ensure that operational lessons learned knowledge are captured and shared; and that standardization is applied where practical across the organization.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Minimization of all risks to personnel, the environment, BHP Billiton assets and production
* Operations oversight of HSE Management Standard Element 8 - Operations and Element 5 - Competence
* Support development of templates for use in implementing functional requirements within petroleum assets
* Support of sustainable competency development within operations
* Effective interface management across assets

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Promote the safety of personnel and integrity of facilities
* Promote the adherence to corporate standards, policies, and guidelines
* Capture and share operational lessons learned
* Support global Operations Excellence initiatives, ensuring consistency and standardization across Petroleum
* Promote operations mentoring, knowledge sharing and standardization across Petroleum
* Develop and maintain networks and relationships with key peers and colleagues in Petroleum for the purpose of information and idea sharing, and enhancement of the company’s overall operations capability (includes O&M leaders, Training Coordinators, and technical experts)
* Participate in peer assists, peer reviews and audits within Petroleum assets as requested.
* Assure implementation of appropriate business systems and application of corporate governance in ad advisory capacity as requested
* Support operations preparedness and the transition from project to operating phase on new assets as requested
* Surveillance and analysis of operational reports to identify opportunities for improvement; including Production Deferment
* Support of 1SAP/GO program integration

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
• B.S. or equivalent
• 20+ years experience
Experience & Technical Competencies
• Experience in achieving safe and compliant operations
• Experience in working within operations team and project teams including operational readiness, commissioning and start up activities
• Knowledge of HSE Management Systems, emergency response, risk management, simultaneous operations, process plant operations, and maintenance management
• Knowledge of OPEX budgeting and business planning
• Safety Case, ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001 experience
