Location: USA The position is in the Dominican Republic and the incumbent will be directly involved with plant construction efforts to ensure SAFE, Timely and Quality construction of the Pueblo Viejo Process Plant. The successful candidate will interact with site PVDC, Hatch and Fluor construction personnel in construction of the: pressure oxidation plant, hot cure circuit, CCD circuit, lime boil circuit, Fe & HDS neutralization circuits, copper precipitation circuit, lime & limestone loop circuits, effluent treatment plant and solution & slurry cooling towers. The position will extend to commissioning and then operation of the Pressure Oxidation plant.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
• Attend SAFETY meetings and observe safety behaviours of personnel on construction site.
• Become familiar with P&IDs, equipment and construction schedule for the process plant.
• Participate in construction coordination meetings to ensure progress of construction.
• Monitor that productivity and quality goals are being met.
• Participate and perform task observation of construction personnel and attend safety toolbox meetings as necessary.
• While on site report to the PVDC Construction manager as well as the PVDC Senior Operations Staff.
• In collaboration with the construction personnel and safety department, perform a risk assessment of the major construction tasks as needed.
• in collaboration with supply chain, establish and ensure the lubricant and equipment first fills for the POX area are put into warehouse and that all construction requirements are met.
• Interact with the HR department, to identify potential autoclave, Oxygen plant, neutralization, descaling and Copper Sulphide plant operators.
• Involvement in implementing plant operator training and progression, with in-depth operating procedures as well as documentation organization pertaining to the activities carried out..
• An in-depth understanding of the process and equipment as well as proficient writing and computer skills will be essential to this position.
During the pre-commissioning and operations phase of the project (after construction)
• Build and supervise an operations team of supervisors and operators as required for the SAFE operation of the pressure oxidation plant.
• Assist, with activities associated with pre-commissioning, commissioning & handover. Select operations team will use this activity to provide training and plant familiarity.
• Coordinate the maintenance of all equipment as needed. Including proper equipment transfer and lock out of equipment.
• Develop training of ore blending requirements with operations personnel that will optimize plant production.
• Lead and implement the safety and training programs, including (but not limited to) the development of the Risk management, Standard Operating Procedures, (SOP’s), Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMP’s), Workplace Inspections, Task Observations and Training programs.
Supervisory Requirements:
• Pre start-up will provide guidance to supervisory construction personnel. Post start-up Autoclave, neutralization & descaling supervisors, operation planner.

Education:
Bachelors degree in Mining, Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering is preferred.
Experience:
10 years supervisory experience in a pressure oxidation plant is required. Additionally, practical experience in operation of boilers, thickeners, water treatment, cooling towers and reagent mixing and addition is preferred.
