Geophysical Advisor New Ventures Houston, TX, USA
GeoExperts is looking for an all-round geophysicist to be part of a Global New Ventures team with a major US oil company. The work will consist of working in a multidisciplinary team in the rapid evaluation of large amounts of data in order to arrive at an understanding of the most commercially prospective areas and sections.
Position Type:Full Time
Position Reports To:Manager Global New Ventures
Travel Required:10% of the time (approximate)
Starts On:1-Nov-09
Experience
At least 20 years of industry experience with the most recent being in New Ventures. Significant exposure to a number of international areas and different geologic settings is required. Experience in working with diverse data, of differing vintages, will be an advantage.
Must have experience of working in multidisciplinary teams on New Venture projects.
Skills
Must have a thorough understanding of all phases of exploration geophysics. This includes gravity & magnetics, the acquisition & processing of seismic data, seismic data visualization and data interpretation.
Must have a good understanding of geologic processes and how they are represented in the subsurface on seismic data.
Computer Skills
Good workstation skills.
Education Required:BS geoscience
