Superior career opportunity with well-established oil and gas operating company with solid presence in deepwater Gulf of Mexico for the 5 - 7 yrs experienced Safety Specialist. For this in-office position (not a field job), we need the accomplished Safety Specialist who is well-experienced at developing and writing and updating safety and health policies - this is key. Please read carefully the following detailed job description. is an ASAP direct hire role.
Position Title: Safety Specialist
Department: HSEQ
Reports to: HSEQ Manager
Primary responsibilities
Oversight, support, and coordination of training, incident investigation, auditing, risk assessment, policy and regulations review, and provide safety technical advice.
Skill Profile
Degree in Safety or related field preferred
5 minimum years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
Communication Areas
Interacts with Company office and field personnel, contractors, and government personnel on a regular basis. Good communication and computer skills essential.
Detailed Responsibilities
Write and update safety and health policies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (OSHA, MMS, USCG)
Review regulatory changes to safety and health requirements to ensure continued compliance
Provide safety and health training to offshore personnel as required
Conduct root cause analysis of significant safety events
Identify new, revised training needs for Company operations personnel
Help plan and coordinate annual program of audits: Internal, Compliance, Health, and ISO
Orchestrate annual Risk Register review and individual project Risk Assessments; monitor and record risk reduction actions taken
Identify solutions to safety and health audit findings
Work on projects and provide support as needed
Travel offshore occasionally for auditing or training
