Our Client, a major supplier of heavy duty mobile equipment to the mining industry, is seeking a Technical Advisor who will be responsible for the efficient flow of technical information, systems and strategies, to support the site maintenance operations.
The Technical Advisor will provide technical and managerial assistance to the Equipment Supervisor and Leading Hands who are responsible for the safe, economic and efficient maintenance operations for the Client project workforce assigned to this project to execute the maintenance services contracts on the fleets of construction and mining equipment. Effectively manage and control expenditure in all areas of the operation and in conjunction with planning staff ensures a scheduled flow of work through the workshop with the aim to minimize delays.
Accountabilities:
* Understands and applies quality control techniques as per OEM and Client recommendations
* Ensure any repairs carried out during the warranty period follow company policy and are correctly recorded with all associated costs correctly allocated
* Ensure all OEM recommendations are being adhered to with regard to the operation and maintenance of the equipment to achieve acceptable levels of equipment availability
* Co-ordinate and carry out all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities
* Co-ordinate Client service and operator training personnel all on the job training requirements
* Manage all Client site based inventory to company policy
* Participate in maintenance planning meetings to ensure all required spare parts are correctly ordered and available as per Equipment Life Plans
* Participate with continuous improvement programs including modifications to Preventative Maintenance Sheets and assembling of Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s)
* Monitor, authorize and code all time cards and warehouse issues to ensure accurate costing to all jobs, all unused parts are returned for credit
* Liaise with maintenance planning and stores personnel to ensure the required resources are available prior to carrying out planned tasks
* Report any situation with has an adverse effect on the completion of the scope works under the Maintenance Services Agreement
* Ensure all accident damage /operator abuse is correctly recorded and reported as set out in the accident damage procedure
* Review any component failures for warranty consideration and ensure corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner
* Ensure all known defects are correctly investigated, recorded and the required parts are available at the time of repair. Defect sheets and work orders are signed off, completed and filed correctly and in a timely manner
* Ensure effective communications for all relevant information is passed onto shift crews on a daily basis
* Ensure effective shift handovers are completed with all relevant information communicated to oncoming shift supervisor /leading hand, all relevant shift information is recorded in the shift handover book and the shift log is completed on a daily basis
* Ensure all direct purchases follow purchasing procedures
* Ensure all KOWA maintenance requirements are conducted to policy and all reports are recorded and all required maintenance actions carried out in a timely manner
* Ensure all personnel leave is approved and submitted for recording on personnel roster sheet
* Carry out regular field inspections /observations and report as required
* Review the monthly key performance indicators including costs, equipment availability and maintenance statistics and make recommendations for improvements where required
Requirements:
* Reporting skills
* Understanding of condition monitoring reporting (Oil reports, undercarriage measurement and reporting, GET measuring and reporting, bucket, blade and tray measuring and reporting)
* Understanding of and skills in data collection
* KPI data collection and reporting
* Understanding of OEM Warranty systems and procedures
* Understanding of OEM technical communication
* Very strong interpersonal skills
* Commitment to skills transfer
* Mentoring background
* Demonstrable experience in change management
* Experience working overseas in cross cultural environment
Qualifications and experience:
* A trade qualification as Heavy Equipment Fitter as a minimum
* Experienced with Komatsu maintenance and business systems or equivalent dealer experience
* Experience in managing MARC’s will be highly regarded
* Demonstrated leadership skills
* Possess a valid Drivers License
The role will require you to work FIFO roster of 23 days on 12 days off with travel in Company time.
Salary range will be confirmed at interview stage depending on qualifications and experience.
