Location: Saudi Arabia POSITION DESCRIPTION: The incumbent of this position will be part of the refinery inspection unit responsible for resolving problems in corrosion control and materials performance affecting the refinery process and utilities units. Incumbent should be an expert in one or more recognized engineering fields and incumbent is required to undertake or coordinate complex engineering work such as the following: 1. Interface with refinery personnel and provide expert advice and front line technical support to maintenance and operation on all corrosion control activities throughout the refinery. 2. Monitor corrosion within the refinery units and provide recommendations periodically to minimize/control the corrosion rate. 3. Evaluate the effectiveness of the corrosion inhibitors in the refinery and assist the refinery in benchmarking the corrosion control practices with other practices used in the industry. 4. Performs corrosion failure investigations and special corrosion related studies. 5. Reviews corrosion mitigation and monitoring activities in the field to identify needed system modifications or procedural changes. 6. Initiates and conducts special studies to minimize/control the corrosion in the refinery units to improve the facilities operation. 7. Provides special technical service, consulting and assisting in design and construction of corrosion control projects. 8. Work with concerned area inspectors and process engineers to monitor and control process parameters related to corrosion. 9. Provides expert advice and assistance on matters pertaining to corrosion and scaling prediction, corrosion mitigation and monitoring, hydro-testing and equipment preservation (mothballing). 10. Act as mentor to develop a competent Saudi Arab corrosion engineers. 11. Recommends new technologies in the field of corrosion.
SELECTION CRITERIA: The incumbent of this position must have a BS Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with 10 years of continuously progressive engineering experience of which 8 years experience in corrosion monitoring and control activities. The incumbent shall: Holds API 510, API570, AWS, RBI, Coating, NDT and any other Certificates related to Inspection are Preference. Has sound knowledge of international codes/standards applicable to inspection (ASTM, API, ASME, TEMA, NACE, ANSI, etc,). Has thorough knowledge of various forms of corrosion and their identification along with monitoring and mitigation methods. Has through knowledge in refinery processes is required. Also, experience in chemical inhibitors treatment, cathodic protection, material selection and coating protection is required. Has excellent English communication skills (verbal and written). Be able to work independently in a new work situation and guide/train local assistant inspectors. Had attended related NACE corrosion courses with NACE membership with major technical contributors in studies and research.
COMMENTS: Riyadh Refinery was commissioned in 1981 and has a design capacity of 120 MBD. Engineering Div. provide the necessary engineering support to process facilities in the fields of operation engineering, manufacturing planning, technical support, project and inspection. The Inspection Unit's role is condition monitoring of all static equipment and piping for the continued safe and reliable operation of the Refinery and provide necessary inspection and engineering support with timely advice for advance planning for the refurbishment/replacement of the equipment and piping per relevant Saudi Aramco & International procedures/ standards with appropriate and up-to-date records.
