Location: Saudi Arabia POSITION DESCRIPTION: Senior Inspection engineering is required to perform and monitor advanced level of complex inspection activities with the following functions and responsibilities: Carry out on-stream condition monitoring of operating plants and QA/QC of all maintenance activities and project work to ensure safe and reliable operations. Conduct internal and external planned and unplanned inspections on all static equipments /facilities. Coordinate with NDT group after determining the appropriate NDT applicable to assess the equipment condition. Evaluate the result of all visual inspection and NDT data and determine the most optimal cost effective repair method and issue an inspection report (worksheet) outlining the repair and QA/QC steps. Issue inspection worksheet for any findings in the assigned area and follow up with execution. Monitor the repairs as per company/international standards for their final acceptance after the required tests. Issue equipment final inspection reports documenting all the findings, NDT results, repairs, testing and recommendations for future use and reference. Maintain inspection files, records and keep them up to date. Ensures that all unit equipment and piping records are updated and entered into a computer data bases. Periodically review the data base information and ensures that appropriate repairs/replacements to the equipment are recommended. Also assures that all required on stream inspections such as NDT are performed on time. Issue welding procedure when required and monitor all fabrication works. Identify the type of corrosion/deterioration to the equipment or piping and initiate appropriate monitoring methods in consultation with process and corrosion groups. Attend daily meetings with Operations, maintenance and Engineering (OME) groups for respective units. Prepare job list for shutdown testing and inspection (T&I) requirements for all equipment and piping circuits and participates to finalize the T&I scope of work. Anticipate equipment and piping retirement and initiate appropriate steps. Train the local Inspectors on the job and off the job. Visits the Process Unit and the Operations Control Room daily to review the operating parameters of the equipments and reports the highlights to the Inspection Supervisor and Area Proponent. Also coordinates inspection related activities with the Operations and Maintenance Divisions. Uses effectively the industry practices and codes, particularly with ASTM material standards, ASME Sections I, V, VIII, IX and API 510, 570, 653 specifications as well as AWS and NACE. Conducts refinery equipment design calculations and remaining life assessments for in-service equipment and evaluate methods, techniques and material utilization for extended run lengths. Responsible for reviewing all technical problems relating to inspection engineering and to assist the refinery to solve such problems. Assists in Risk Based Inspection Assessments by providing required data or facilitating assessments.
SELECTION CRITERIA: B.S. degree in Mechanical or Metallurgy Engineering with five (5) years in the refining or similar process industry of direct inspection experience OR 13 years minimum industrial experience as Plant & Equipment inspector. The incumbent: Holds an API 510, API570, AWS, Coating, NDT or any other certificates related to Inspection. Has strong knowledge of international codes/standards applicable to inspection (ASTM, API, ASME, TEMA, NACE, ANSI, etc,). Has thorough knowledge of various forms of corrosion and their identification along with monitoring and mitigation methods. Has excellent English communication skills (verbal and written). Be able to work independently in a new work situation and guide/train local assistant inspectors. Be below 40 years of age with good health and shall be willing to work at high elevations and confined spaces.
COMMENTS: Riyadh Refinery was commissioned in 1981 and has a design capacity of 120 MBD. The Engineering Division provide the necessary engineering support to process facilities in the fields of operation engineering, manufacturing planning, technical support, project and inspection. The Inspection Unit's role is condition monitoring of all static equipment and piping for the continued safe and reliable operation of the Refinery and provide necessary inspection and engineering support with timely advice for advance planning for the refurbishment/replacement of the equipment and piping per relevant procedures/ standards with appropriate and up-to-date records.
