Description: Business Analyst for Exploration
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will be responsible for supporting the Vice President of Americas Exploration with a dotted line to the Exploration Strategic Planning Manager with financial and business analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting of Global Exploration and New Ventures activities. This position will work closely with finance and operating teams within Company to ensure that Americas Exploration business activities are accurately reported and effectively communicated. This job requires a team player with strong financial, exploration, communication, and computer skills; high standards of excellence, attention to detail, and the willingness and flexibility to work through busy periods are essential for success in this role.
ROLE / RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform analyses for Global Exploration and New Ventures (such as Portfolio analyses, competitor analyses, industry trends analyses, budget and multi-year business plans, etc.)
• Develop and update financial and economic models in support of Global Exploration and New Ventures
• Assist in the collection of Americas Exploration annual budget. Work with Exploration teams to review budgets and to verify the completeness, quality, and consistency of budget data
• Assist as needed in the preparation of financial forecasts and presentations to management; prepare detailed special review and analysis of various forecast components for management
• Assist in updating Exploration oil and gas resource and reserves data base
• Prepare data in support of Benchmarking. Ensure that data is accurate and reliable
• Assist Vice President of Americas Exploration on various presentations and special projects
Qualifications
SKILLS / COMPETENCIES:
• Ability to understand Exploration business is essential
• Experience working with economic analyses of E&P projects
• Attention to detail and commitment to functional excellence
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of the Company Exploration and Production organization
• Ability to exhibit energy, enthusiasm, and a positive outlook
• Strong computer skills essential, Microsoft Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
EXPERIENCE:
• 5-10 or more years of oil and gas experience in Geoscience
• Solid experience relating to high grading exploration efforts by performing business analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and variance of existing and proposed exploration projects
• Experience working with E&P budgeting and forecasting processes required
• Experience with economics software required
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Geoscience or related field required and Master's
