Our Client:
Our client is a well financed, private oil & gas company based in Calgary with its principal assets and interests being within the oil sands in Northern Alberta. The organization is seeking an experienced individual to join their team in the role of Site Superintendent. This position will be a key member of a multi-disciplinary development team and will provide leadership in the areas of safety, operations, engineering, maintenance, plant and facilities optimization, commissioning & start-up, planning, scheduling and budgeting. This position will provide key site coordination between operations, maintenance, engineering, production engineering, construction, site services, security and all personnel and contractors on site.
Reporting Structure:
This position will report to the Director of Operations.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
o Provide and demonstrate personal Safety leadership in accordance with the company’s EHS program.
o Provide leadership in establishing a strong Safety culture with the organization and contractors.
o Develop, manage, and be accountable for the operating costs to maximize profitability (safety, production, operating expense, and cash generation).
o Develop and operational environment which facilities the recruitment, development and retention of a competent work force.
o Foster a culture of operational excellence and a team environment which engages all members of the team to contribute to corporate success.
o Oversee implementation of operating procedures and training, which demonstrated worker competence, emphasizes safety and environmental policies and ensures regulatory compliance.
o Provide operations input to planned and future projects.
o Participate as required in the maintenance of excellent community relations and the public consultation process.
o Provide field coordination and liaison with corporate office and site operations.
o Direct site operations to meet the business needs of the company.
o Act as the company field representative with the ERCS, OH&S, ABSA,
Forestry and other government and regulatory agencies.
o Assist security staff with monitoring, training, road control and incident investigations.
o Monitor operating facility on a daily basis and confirm that they are within operating guidelines and parameters.
o Implement operation and maintenance training programs to ensure employees are proficient in EH&S and site specific procedures.
o Ensure meetings are held with company partners and operations teams.
o Develop, establish and foster a strong working relationship with preferred vendors, suppliers, contractors, consulting engineering companies and other stakeholders.
o Provide guidance and mentorship in the development of the capacity and capability of the operations organization.
Skills/Qualifications:
o Engineering degree with 5 to 10 years of experience in a Senior Operations Management role or a minimum of 15 years in progressively more responsible position culminating in a Senior Operations
Management position.
o Demonstrated record of people development, Operations excellence, continuous improvement, innovation and cost reduction.
o Knowledgeable in engineering codes standards and specifications.
o Knowledgeable in Alberta regulations governing workplace safety, environment and oilfield operations.
o Understanding of activities required in the areas of seismic and drilling in terms of operations and safety.
o Project management and strong interpersonal skills.
o Strong coordination and negotiation skills.
o A thorough understanding of SAGD production techniques is an asset.
o Experience in plant operations, maintenance, commissioning and plant trouble shooting.
o Knowledge of co-gen power operations an asset.
o Demonstrated experience in scheduling, planning, budgeting, community, labour relations and plant design.
o Ability to analyze complex issues and provide leadership and direction.
Compensation/Remuneration:
Compensation will include a competitive base salary, bonus, stock options, and benefits.
