Operations Manager

We are seeking to appoint an Operations Manager to a national second tier building contractor in Melbourne.

The company has offices across Australia and has a presence in public and private sector projects up to approx AU$200m. Projects include PPP, institutional, industrial, retail and commercial and are both design & construct and hard dollar.

This role will report into the General Manager and will manage the site based delivery teams of Project Managers, Contract Administrators/QSs and Site Managers. You will work alongside the rest of the management team in the bid phase of projects, having input into buildability, programming and costing. This is a high level role overseeing all construction processes and procedures, and ensuring that problems on projects are detected and addressed in a timely manner. You will also attend cost reporting meetings with the board, presenting on the progress of projects under your control.

A crucial side to this position will be to train and mentor more junior members of staff. The business has some high calibre individuals who require your time to get to the next level in their careers. You should have a patient mentality and receive satisfaction from personnel development.

Opportunities to progress into state management exist and a high flying individual is sought. To be considered for this role you will have worked as a Construction or Operations Manager in another tier one or two contractor, or you may be a Senior Project Manager ready to take the next step into a head office role.

Salary package will be dependent on experience. A comprehensive package will be on offer with bonuses attached.
