A key position within our Health, Safety, Environment & Quality Department, this role is primarily responsible for ensuring our commitment to “zero harm” is achieved in terms of environmental impacts upon Groote Eylandt.
You will be responsible for ensuring best practice environmental management systems are developed, implemented and maintained in accordance with AS/NZS ISO 14001 and accountable for reporting on the success of environmental management and the performance of the environmental management system, for review and as a basis for improvement.
Essential requirements:
* Extensive experience in environmental management with at least three of those years in Management/Supervision role
* An intimate knowledge of environmental management issues involving large-scale open pit mining operations
* ISO 14001 EMS experience
* Degree in Environmental Science or related discipline
* Extensive experience liaising with community and regulatory bodies
* Experience and involvement with Indigenous people and groups
* Broad understanding of Federal and NT state environmental legislation
* Understanding of general budgeting and financial concepts
