By providing strategic direction to BHP Billiton's enterprise-wide Supply function, Global Supply plays an important part in BHP Billiton’s continued success. The ultimate objective of our Supply network is to lower costs and improve effectiveness at operations through outstanding Supply capabilities.
POSITION SYNOPSIS
We seek an achievement-oriented professional, with strong analytical and conceptual skills, to facilitate and implement strategic solutions for the Global Supply group. Reporting to the Global Supply Manager, Surface & Underground Mining Equipment, this role involves;
• Supplier relationship management with key suppliers
• Interaction with customers to ensure their needs are supported
• Customer guidance on commercial opportunities and development of procurement/negotiation strategies
• Equipment forecast management for short, medium and long term surface and underground requirements
• Contract performance management
• Collection and analysis of market intelligence including supply capacity and market demand
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Review commercial arrangements for surface and underground mining equipment
• Lead/support equipment and parts commercial negotiations
• Co-ordinate the collation, analysis and delivery of accurate forecast equipment requirements
• Analysis and communication of inbound supply chain pricing movements to the operations
• Development and submission of category reporting requirements
• Analysis and reporting of market intelligence including supplier capacity and market demand
• Implement supplier relationship management processes including use of relevant e-business systems
• Deliver strategies to foster supplier relationships
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Engineering or Commerce Degrees with experience in the resources or related industries
• Secondary qualifications (e.g. MBA or equivalent) would be highly regarded
• Strong leadership qualities with capacity to challenge the status quo and successfully lead change
• Understanding and experience of contemporary industry safety standards, protocols and procedures
• High proficiency in sourcing, developing and managing commercial supply contracts
• Superior communication (written and verbal), facilitation and interpersonal skills, essential to building constructive relationships with a diversity of stakeholders
• Proficient with the MS Office suite applications. Well-developed analysis, modelling and research skills highly valued
• Familiarity with SAP environments and applications will be considered a plus
• Verbal and written language skills in English are mandatory. Spanish will be highly regarded.
• A minimum of 5 years of working experience with exposure to complex practices and procedures
• Prior consultancy experience highly regarded
• International travel will be required
