Position Synopsis
A motivated professional with an interest in and flair for information management, you will work within BHP Billiton Iron Ore’s (BHPBIO) Information Management (IM) group and with the Business Systems Managers to evaluate business needs and develop the case for change for IM opportunities. Your objective is to understand and frame business opportunities ensuring consistency with IM architectural standards and policies, and that support measurable and demonstrable business benefits.
The successful incumbent will be a natural when it comes to building successful and positive relationships with the Iron Ore business’ key stakeholders, enabling our business to focus on key activities.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Working in collaboration with the Business Systems Managers to deliver the IM planning process (IM strategy, portfolio and budget) including preparing and presenting the quarterly IM planning and portfolio report to the CIO;
* Supporting the Business Systems Managers in analysing business issues, working with the Architecture team and appropriate vendors to evaluate and identify opportunities for business systems improvements, and preparing Identification deliverables for progression to Program Delivery;
* Ensuring business system requirements meet agreed guidelines and include clear problem identification, performance, support and usability measures;
* Coordination of BSC forums to facilitate further business system process improvement opportunities through the sharing of information across BHPBIO’s service functions; and
* Assisting in the preparation of the Post Implementation Reviews to identify how well the technical solution met the needs and expectations of the business stakeholders.
Skills and Experience
To be considered, you will ideally have a tertiary qualification in IT or equivalent IT industry experience (5+ years). Your exposure in a business analysis role, preferably in a large organisation testifies to your previous involvement in complex projects and your experience in preparing high level business cases and budget proposals, business issue resolution and business change management. Exposure to business improvement methodology such as Six Sigma will be highly regarded.
Your ability to communicate confidently at all levels, to build good rapport with a diverse range of people is essential. You will be patient and persistent with a keen eye for detail, and have an ability to move quickly to adapt to a flexible and changing work environment
