Position Synopsis
We are now seeking a motivated and safety conscious individual to actively contribute to the achievement of the Whaleback Maintenance Water Services Department’s goals and targets. Working in a safe and efficient manner, you will be expected to actively contribute as a team member of an experienced maintenance team, where your focus will be on ensuring availability, reliability and quality maintenance of the water reticulation & supply system for both the Whaleback & Ore-body 23/25 Bore fields
Operating in a climate of continuous improvement, and in compliance with the Newman MOSS Safety System and BHP Billiton Iron Ore’s Environmental Management System, your key accountabilities will include:
The key accountabilities for the role of Dewatering Support Services Operator/Technician will include the following:
* Assisting with the installing pumps in bores;
* Laying of pipes between bores and discharge points, including some on final walls for in-pit dewatering;
* Re-establish the in-pit bores as mining RL goes down;
* Monitoring of the dewatering network and maintenance of the whole dewatering network (replace pumps, fix leaks, etc.);
* Set-up a dewatering shed & layout area (pipes, pumps, cables & tools storage);
* Digging in-pit sumps;
* Install and remove pumps & pipes in accordance with blasting and mining requirements; and
* Operations of mobile mining equipment, light truck, Vehicle Loading Crane and backhoe as required.
Skills and Experience
To be considered, you will ideally hold the following:
* A Dogging Certificate (DG) and /or a Basic Rigging Certification (RB);
* A Vehicle Loading Crane Certification (CV); and
* Poly pipe welding tickets are desirable.
The successful candidate will possess a current “HR” class WA driver’s licence and relevant plant operations experience will be well regarded.
