We are increasing our mine, rail and port capacity and developing new, high value-in-use products to provide steel makers with competitive advantages. Our newest growth project, Rapid Growth Project 5, will take installed capacity at our Iron Ore operations to 205mpta by the second half of calendar year 2011. Join our exciting business and give your career the challenge it deserves.
Position Synopsis
Working with the Asset Development Projects team initially, this role will lead a major mine development study and provide an experienced mine manager with the rare opportunity to develop significant and high profile mine studies and project expertise. Reporting to the General Manager Mines Development, you will manage the mine development process from the preparation of studies through to project execution and operational readiness. Following successful project completion, you will then assume a significant role in the mine’s operational team, thereby providing the continuity of your knowledge from studies to operations.
Specifically, the Manager Mine Development will:
* Visibly display an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development through the application of approved policies, standards and procedures for personal and team actions;
* Successfully manage the project through various approval tollgates and execute the project plan within approved KPIs;
* Ensure engagement and agreement between relevant stakeholders on project design and timing; and
* Build a project model that aligns with the overall WA Iron Ore people, cost and productivity strategies.
Skills and Experience
Degree qualified in Mining Engineering or a related discipline, you will have significant experience in the leadership of medium to large scale mining operations, exposure to strategic and operational planning and production, and whole system performance management.
Your skills and experience appeal to us because their foundation is based in operational knowledge; the type of knowledge that will ensure our project will successfully deliver its expected outcomes in operations. Exposure to major mine development studies or projects and the management of operational changes to equipment, processes and people will further highlight your suitability to this role.
Credible and committed, your proven leadership skills will facilitate the building of productive relationships with stakeholders. You will be a role model for safe work standards and an achievement oriented and encouraging work culture.
Location
The position will initially be based in our Perth office during the study phases, and then become a Pilbara FIFO role during the execution of the project and ultimate operations.
