STRATEGIC PLANNING LEADER

The Resource and Business Optimisation (RBO) Group is responsible for setting the minimum standards and verifying compliance in the areas of resource and reserve estimation and mine planning. Within RBO is the Minerals Resource Development (MRD) team. As an integral member of the team, you will provide BHP Billiton with value-focused technical leadership and leading various projects and events to support the Planning Leadership Program.
Position Synopsis
Key accountabilities of the role include:
• Leading and actively participating in the ongoing development of directional planning, five year planning and closure planning processes with a focus on effectiveness, simplicity and alignment.
• Providing training, facilitation and leadership to Assets so that they may successfully deploy the processes and achieve superior planning outcomes.
• Participating in regular assessment of CSGs (Commodity Groups) and Asset performance in process deployment.
• Gathering and reporting on portfolio information.
• Leading select projects in the above fields
Skills and Experience
We require a suitably qualified individual, with extensive experience in strategic planning, mine/factory simulation and optimisation, and economic and options analysis. Experience and expertise at an Asset or Commodity Group level in the directional (long-term) planning, Five Year Planning and Closure Planning processes is essential, with Closure Planning experience preferred.
To succeed in this role you must possess strong interpersonal and presentation skills to build constructive relationships with senior management and a diverse range of stakeholders. Though the role involves a high degree of autonomy, you must be able to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and facilitate knowledge sharing. Fluency in English is essential, with a proficiency in Spanish highly regarded.
It is expected there will be extensive interstate and international travel involved in the role.
