Basic Purpose:
The Senior Production Geologist will be responsible for providing high quality geological support and to the geoscientists and subsurface engineers in the Gulf of Mexico Geoscience Production Unit. The production Geologist will work closely with the other team members in a shared responsibility to deliver successful results within the agreed HSEC criteria, production and fiscal budgets and schedule. Primary focus of position is to understand the early-production behavior of the fields through mapping and modeling, and to make recommendations for infield and nearfield well drilling.

Key Accountabilities:
• Provide responsive, expert geologic advice to the team, working with other geoscientists and engineers in the team to develop high quality geological models
• Integrate well, core and log data. Carry out reservoir mapping and provide input to volumetrics and reserves estimation
• Participate in well project team activities for development wells and carry out post-well analysis
• Perform administrative tasks in an effective and efficient manner and contribute to the achievement of team goals and objectives.
• Maintain active contact with professional societies; develop and maintain networks and relationships with key peers across the company and industry for idea-sharing and capability development
• Adhere to HSEC Policy and Management Standards, & exercise the stop unsafe work ideals and report unsafe conditions
• Participate in HSE activities such as HSE meetings, programs or training
Responsibilities:
• Communication with line and functional management of progress and understanding as it develops.
• Maintain contact with Peer network and internal specialists, engaging them as necessary for advice and assists.
• Mentoring of junior peers inside the team, knowledge sharing with the greater BHPB geoscience community.
• Retention and enhancement of key skillsets and competency through continued training and development.
• Input to Peer Assist and Peer Review for other projects

Qualifications:
• At least BS in Geoscience Degree
Experience & Technical Competencies:
8+ years in upstream oil and gas industry with experience from the following areas:
• Technical work to a high level of competence and complexity across the range of appraisal, development and production settings.
• Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams, experience in deepwater projects is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of development geology, computer mapping and basic reservoir engineering is required
• Creative thinking and a proactive self starter
• The ability to work with and influence partners
• A track record of strong communication and influencing skills.
