Our client, a successful Copper and Base Metals mining company, currently has a vacancy for an Exploration Manager to manage the staff and direct the company’s activities. This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably-qualified professional geologist to take up the challenge with a company that will provide flexibility and the opportunity to expand your career.
Reporting to the Managing Director you will be predominantly Africa based and responsible for managing the geology of the company’s interests in the Kalahari Copper Belt.
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Prepare regular exploration updates and presentations for the Board and make strategic recommendations about new activities;
Management of all aspects of the day to day exploration activities, including program planning and execution;
Develop exploration and drilling programs with the project geologist;
Identify and manage research into target generation;
Ensuring safe work practices are observed by all staff and contractors;
The successful candidate will ideally possess the following skills and experience:
Tertiary qualifications in geology;
18+ years experience, mostly in gold exploration and base metals;
A good understanding of the JORC Code;
Solid knowledge of resource drilling;
Knowledge of ArcGis desirable;
An awareness of environmental concerns;
A basic understanding of financial management, cost estimation and contract negotiation will be expected;
Effective communication skills with the ability to present at board and investor level;
Enjoy transferring knowledge to develop your local team of geologists;
An attractive remuneration package and work schedule will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
