Our most recent growth project, Rapid Growth Project 5, will take installed capacity at our Western Australian Iron Ore operations to 205mpta by the second half of calendar year 2011.
Position Synopsis
A unique opportunity exists for an Environmental professional to join BHP Billiton’s premier Iron Ore business in the Pilbara. BHPBIO seeks an experienced environmental professional, with a sound knowledge of environmental legislation, standards and codes of practice, to ensure that our environmental responsibilities, commitments and conditions in regard to key mining operations, are honoured and observed.
You will be expected to provide support, advice and professional environmental services to our mine operations in Western Australia’s Pilbara region. As well as ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, you will assist in the ongoing improvement of our environment, health, safety and community systems, manage environmental risks and contribute to facilitating environmental awareness and training activities on the various mine sites.
Skills & Experience
To be considered, you will have a degree in Environmental Management or similar, with mining industry or related experience. To assist in maintaining BHPBIO’s ISO 14001 certification a good working knowledge of EMS will be well regarded. This role requires continual interaction with both company and contractor personnel, therefore it is essential that you can demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, proven planning and implementation abilities, and the flexibility to operate both autonomously and collaboratively. A current WA C class driver’s licence is necessary.
Location
This is a residential role based in Newman, a town of approximately eight thousand people. It has excellent sporting facilities that cater for a wide range of interests and age groups, a well-appointed shopping centre, and education services to senior level.
