Our most recent growth project, Rapid Growth Project 5, will take installed capacity at our Western Australian Iron Ore operations to 205mpta by the second half of calendar year 2011.
Position Synopsis
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced emergency response and safety services professional to lead the provision and coordination of rescue, medical and safety support during emergency situations at site. This 12 month fixed term position reports to the Superintendent Health and Safety for the Resource Evaluation Group (REG), and leads a small team working across multiple remote exploration operations.
As well as supervising the ERSO team and ensuring effective prevention, preparedness, response and recovery in emergency situations, you will:
* Coordinate and manage site emergency services team and ensure optimal resources are available in emergency situations;
* Provide technical advice and internal consultancy on emergency services issues;
* Maintenance and practice of the emergency and safety management procedures and plan;
* Conduct daily safety inspections of exploration work areas;
* Facilitate regular assessment of fire and emergency services resources servicing the REG operations;
* Coordinating audits, inspections and reviews to meet relevant legislation and regulatory requirements; and
* Build rapport, negotiate and establish positive and constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and liaise with people at all levels and from diverse backgrounds.
Skills and Experience
Essential qualifications for this role include Industrial Paramedic (or equivalent) and training in Vehicle Rescue, Respond to Wildfire, Hazchem, Working at Heights and hold a current HR drivers licence. Qualifications in Workplace Training and Assessment will be highly regarded.
You will have leadership experience in fire and rescue or the emergency medical arena; exposure to drug and alcohol testing, traffic management and speed monitoring; and to the communication and implementation of health, safety and environment protocols. Previous experience in a Health and Safety role in mining or heavy industry or working autonomously on a remote site would be advantageous.
Location
This position is being offered on a Fly in Fly out basis from Perth and rotating between our Pilbara sites.
