Our most recent growth project, Rapid Growth Project 5, will take installed capacity at our Western Australian Iron Ore operations to 205mpta by the second half of calendar year 2011.
Position Synopsis
This challenging role is ideal for a senior Health & Safety Advisor role with a strong desire to make a difference. You will support HSE enhancement at our contract mining operations, working closely with our contractors to facilitate the implementation of key HSE programs and utilise your project management experience to action BHP Billiton Iron Ore’s HSE vision and strategy on site, and alignment with contractors’ goals.
Reporting to the Manager - Health & Safety and working closely with operational leaders, you will deliver health and safety management through:
* Consultation with contractor employees and safety representatives regarding HSE issues;
* Liaising with HSE professionals to facilitate the implementation of leading HSE systems, processes and practices;
* Promoting continuous improvement of HSE management and performance;
* Engaging in field based conversations to promote safe work practices;
* Conducting analysis of significant incidents, identifying trends and recommending mitigating actions; and
* Ensuring compliance of BHPB HSE policy, management standards, statutory requirements, licences and permits.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will demonstrate significant experience in a health and safety management role and an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment and community. Pivotal to your success will be your interpersonal, communication and engagement skills and liaison with contract HSE representatives. Tertiary qualifications in health and safety and extensive experience ideally in an operating environment such as resources, contractor or heavy industry extensive experience, is essential.
Location
The successful applicant will work on a 9 on, 5 off Fly In Fly Out (FIFO) roster from Perth.
The remuneration package includes an attractive salary package, including an incentive bonus, generous superannuation plan, long-service provisions and annual leave travel assistance.
