Situated near Muswellbrook in the picturesque Upper Hunter Valley, the Mt Arthur Coal operation is currently expanding its thermal coal operations. This growth offers opportunities for team-spirited and motivated people to join a world-class operation.

Outstanding opportunity for a team oriented and highly experienced Contracts Officer to join Mt Arthur Coal Open Cut Operation. Reporting to the Supply Superintendent you will be responsible for the negotiation, implementation and commercial management of contracts and service agreements for the development, maintenance and on site service contract requirements for the mine.

Key accountabilities include:

* Evaluate commercial elements of tenders, coordinate technical evaluations and facilitate the source selection and negotiation processes.
* Ensure contractual documentation is unambiguous, conducive to obtaining best value with regards to ‘total cost of ownership’ and complies with BHP Billiton policy and the law.
* Manage vendor performance; resolve performance issues and generally ensure vendors work with MAC to improve overall vendor performance.
* Maintain insurance registers to ensure all suppliers have relevant insurances.
* Perform administration tasks such as maintaining vendor databases and rationalisation of vendors.

Essential requirements:

* Relevant technical qualifications
* Proficiency in Supply gained through experience in the field with exposure to complex practices and procedures
* Working knowledge of all supply chain functions
* General understanding of GSAP MM Module and Microsoft applications
* Basic understanding of contract law

Applicants who can demonstrate an ability to work well within a team with superior communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with project teams and external consultants will have an opportunity for success in this role.
