The Resource Development Group (RDG) is committed to adding value to BMA’s operations by providing expertise in Exploration and Geological Services, Strategic Mine Planning, Underground Strategy, and Development and Research. Due to continued growth, we are currently seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer, focusing specifically on strategic planning for BMA’s existing operations and planned expansions in the Bowen Basin.
Reporting to the Principal Mining Engineer - Resource Planning, the successful applicant will assist in developing, maintaining and continuously improving our planning procedures and systems. This position further operates across the spectrum of mine planning; developing strategies and plans to maximise the potential value of BMA’s business, and provide guidance to site inside of the shorter term planning window. Your role will include mine design, scheduling, operating cost estimation, capital modelling and full NPV assessment to support Board Level submissions for BMA growth projects. You additionally be involved in Life of Asset planning for our operating mine sites, encompassing mine optimisation, life of mine scheduling, landform planning, and financial evaluation of mine planning options.
Based in our Brisbane Office, occasional domestic travel is required, developing and maintaining relationships with Site Technical Services Managers, the Project Development Group, Finance and other Mining Professionals within the Resource Development Group. With a high level of analytical ability, you will have a demonstrable aptitude for problem solving and effective decision making. With significant technical, operational and commercial experience in open cut and / or underground coal mining, extensive understanding of coal quality and processing is required. Proficient in the use of Vulcan, XPAC and Xeras, or software literate in similar applications, you will have proven experience in capital justifications and project management. A Bachelor’s Degree in a mining related discipline is mandatory, whilst postgraduate qualifications in management or finance related fields, is highly desirable.
