Senior Process Engineer Expressions of Interest

Goonyella Riverside, owned by BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance, is one of the world’s largest open-cut operations, producing 13.5 million tonnes per annum of hard coking coal. Our 1000 staff lives in the modern, well-equipped town of Moranbah - 200km west of Mackay & the Whitsunday coast

We are currently seeking expressions of interest for an experienced Senior Process Engineer to fill a fixed term vacancy at the Coal Preparation Plant Department at Goonyella Riverside Mine. You will be responsible for maintaining the efficient operation of two plants by managing a team of engineers and laboratory technicians through process monitoring, identifying and implementing process based improvements to enhance the performance of the coal processing plant.

The successful candidate will have:

* Formal qualifications in Chemical or Minerals Processing Engineering or a related discipline.
* A proven record of commitment to safety.
* Exceptional communication, self-motivation skills and leadership attributes
* Effective management of an engineering team
* Demonstrated ability to influence and motivate others with regard to continuous improvement projects

The requirements of the role will be, but not limited to:

* Responsible and accountable for the management and supervision of the Process Engineering Team
* Ensure the processing function meets product quality objectives
* Contribute to the Coal Processing Management Business Planning function
* Provide levels of project involvement and Processing Improvement Projects met overall objectives and are carried out in accordance with BMA systems, standards and procedures
* Communicate regularly with the Production Superintendent and keep informed of the Processing performance and possible improvement opportunities
* Manage and initiate Dual Plant Process Improvement Projects
* Provide, implement and continuously improve information and systems for performance measuring, reporting and actioning ensuring standardisation across the Coal Processing department. ‘Performance’ includes but is not limited to:
* Quality
* Production
* Coal Loss
* Capacity (tonnage & run time)
* Ensure standardisation of Processing Improvements across the Coal Processing Department where applicable
* Ensure processing improvements are communicated adequately to all stakeholders
* Communicate regularly with the Production Superintendent and keep informed of the Processing performance and possible improvement opportunities

Applicants should have extensive senior process engineering experience in either mineral or other processing facilities. Coal experience will be looked upon favourably.
