A member of the BHP Billiton Group, Nickel West is a fully integrated nickel business comprising mines, concentrators, a smelter and refinery, all located in Western Australia.
Nickel West is the world’s third largest producer of nickel-in-concentrate.
Leinster Nickel Operation is located 375 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.
The operation sources nickel ore from the Perseverance Underground Mine and Cliffs Underground Mine before crushing and processing to produce a concentrate. As one of the Analytical Laboratory Technicians at Leinster, you will join a small multi skilled team. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a role where you will be challenged and developed in all aspects of safe Laboratory practices.

Think Purpose
Reporting to the Chief Chemist, you will be responsible for maintaining Laboratory Safety, Environment, Quality and Production standards.
You will also be required to maintain and calibrate Laboratory equipment, train and guide other team members as directed and perform sample and preparation duties, prepare and run samples on the XRF, XRD, AAS and UV/VIS spectrophotometer.
Think Requirements
It is essential that you have a high level of knowledge of computer packages and strong mathematical skills. There is an element of physical work and you will be trained in safe lifting practices.
You will possess Certificate/Diploma in Laboratory Techniques or have relevant Laboratory experience, preferably with a degree in chemistry.
Experience with sample preparation, AAS, XRF and Wet Chemical Techniques are what we are looking for, along with an overriding commitment to Health, Safety, Environment and the Community.
Strong communication skills, excellent planning, organisational, problem solving and analytical skills will help you in this fast paced environment. A positive attitude and high energy levels will help you achieve yours and your team’s goals.
