An outstanding opportunity exists for a talented and highly motivated professional to join Worsley’s Engineering Services Team in the role of Bauxite Residue Superintendent. With an expansion project currently underway that will lift annual production of alumina from 3.5 million tonnes to 4.6 million tonnes through expanded mining operations, additional refinery capacity and upgraded port facilities, now is an ideal time to join our business.
You will be accountable for ensuring adequate capacity of tailings storage area is readily available at all times to meet the expanding plant. Your knowledge of planning & design, construction and maintenance of tailings storage facilities and haul road networks is essential. Demonstrated experiences across other civil engineering projects in the management of contractors will be very essential for this role.
To be considered for this role, you will have an absolute personal commitment to safety and share our goal of Zero Harm. You will require a proven track record in safety management, as well as significant exposure to the development of Key Performance Indicators that accurately trend the business to analyse business efficiencies. In addition, a desire to work in a strongly team oriented environment and to provide interdepartmental support is critical.
In order to be successful in this position you will require an engineering degree, preferably with a post-graduate in Civil/geotechnical or closely related field. In addition you will be, or will be eligible to become, a chartered member of the Institution of Engineers (Australia) and have significant direct practical experience in the design and construction of tailings storage facilities along with experience in design and project management obtained at a leadership role of civil and earthworks projects.
