Risk Manager
BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) is Australia's largest coal miner and exporter and the world's largest supplier to the seaborne coking coal market. BMA is part of the world’s largest diversified resources company managing nine mines and a port in Central Queensland. The company is experiencing a major demand for its products, with its outstanding resource base and first class infrastructure assets providing a strong foundation on which to grow the business.
BMA requires a Risk Manager, located in Brisbane and reporting to the Risk and Commercial Manager. The Risk Manager will have the responsibility of improving the understanding and application of risk management to identify, evaluate and control project and business risks that impact on achieving BMA’s growth objectives. This is a key role to enable senior managers to evaluate risk, improve control and make better business decisions to deliver significant business value to BMA.
Core accountabilities of the role will include:
• Facilitate risk assessment to identify, evaluate and improve control of project and business risk
• To develop and monitor the delivery of risk management plans for major capital projects
• Improve the integrity of risk assessments, risk registers and risk management plans
• Develop and implement control management strategies to improve the control assurance of key project risks
• Identify risk management training needs and deliver appropriate training
• Prepare and present key project risks to BMA and IPR teams
• An overriding commitment to HSEC and business excellence/performance
To be successful in this role, you will have:
• Engineering, Science or Finance related degree
• Excellent knowledge of mining and must be able to help identify and evaluate risk
• Must understand how mining projects, contracts and operations work.
• Good facilitation skills to ensure maximum participation
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
