The Diamonds and Specialty Products Customer Sector Group (CSG) includes our diamond and titanium minerals businesses as well as our potash projects. Our principal operations are located in Canada and South Africa.
An outstanding opportunity exists for a dedicated and experienced finance professional to become part of our talented team based in Saskatoon, SK. Reporting to the Potash Project Director, the Finance Manager is responsible for protecting and maximizing shareholder value by ensuring the appropriate corporate governance and controls are in place and by providing quality and timely financial analysis, support and services in the development of our Potash business.
Accountable for consolidating and reviewing the business reporting, forecasting & budgeting, and internal control processes and services to contribute to the achievement of the Potash Development Business and the CSG’s financial goals and objectives. This role is also accountable for all the information systems and process control activities for the Potash group based in Canada.
This role is part of the Potash Leadership team.
Key responsibilities include:
* Lead the Potash Development Team in goal setting and strategic planning activities;
* Manage the Investment Process for Potash projects;
* Direct the finance, accounting, treasury, and corporate consolidation functions for the BHP Billiton Potash group;
* Manage the Internal Control Environment for the Potash projects and ensure that all internal controls are in place and operating effectively;
* Support strong employee development programs, establish high standards of performance, and institute hiring standards to ensure the attainment of long term objectives and provide for continuity of operation through succession planning;
* Lead the Potash Development IM Strategy;
* Review of key commercial contracts; and
* Critically reviewing project financial evaluations for use by internal and external stakeholders.
Essential requirements:
* Competence in financial system development generally gained through a minimum of ten years experience in various senior accounting roles;
* Competence in budgeting, forecasting and analytical reporting;
* Experience in managing investment processes;
* Proven competence in leading people generally gained though supervisory experience.
