Location: Francophone West Africa Our Client is a major minerals company operating globally. The Mining Business Unit operations cover the first phase of the energy cycle and consist of four main activities: mineral exploration (discovering new ore deposits), mining (extraction of energy minerals), ore processing and site reclamation following mining activities. The company operates a number of mines and mineral process plants in Francophone West Africa.
Our Client has a requirement for a Project Manager as a member of the Project Department; you are responsible for an entire or part of a mining project in one of the following fields:
- An "ore processing units" project;
- A "country infrastructure" project (accommodation, schools, health centre, roads, electricity line, airport, site facilities, etc);
- A calcining and drumming project;
- A logistics chain project.
You lead and coordinate your team, constituted for the entire project: studies, purchasing, construction, testing and start-up and project management.
You are involved in project development for the project, and, to this end, you are the prime contractor contact person.
>>To do this, you are responsible for:
- Organizing and structuring the Project;
- Defining the basic data;
- Producing the schedule and the business plan;
- Controlling its smooth running: Monitoring and keeping to costs and lead-times, complying with basic data, reports and ultimately technical performance;
- Managing the prime contractor and service providers (studies, equipment purchasing, work contracts, construction, on-site testing). You guarantee safety, quality and compliance with the regulations in force;
- Analyzing risks and resulting actions plans, from the start of the Project and during its implementation;
- Managing worksite teams during the on-site construction phase;
- Managing and improving the budget and margin of your project through research and the implementation of opportunities;
- Preparing and building customer/partner/supplier amendments and claims;
- Ensuring satisfactory implementation of the Project reports for the Project Department.
>> Your Profile:
- You hold an engineering honours, preferably masters, degree;
- You have significant experience of at least ten years in project management, including the construction phase;
- You have leadership and management capabilities;
- You have a good command of communication and consultation techniques;
- You are methodical.
- English and French are essential (other languages appreciated, i.e. Arabic)
