Job title: Manager: Metallurgical
Site / Department / Service: Southern African operations
Position reports to: Manager: Mine
>>PURPOSE
To establish and implement the metallurgical function for the operation in line with Company standards and industry best practice.
>>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
• Control and management of production, costs and budgets for the Plant operations Department
• Manage adherence to health, safety, environment and security within area of responsibility
• Responsible for the achievement of production and cost targets for area of responsibility
• Direct and manage the implementation of safety, production, and the overall plant operations strategy
• Ensures that short and long term plans are in place to ensure business sustainability
• Implement quality control protocols
• Ensure compliance with specific country legislation and company policies and procedures
• Management of contracted suppliers
• Liaison with suppliers and relevant industry groups to ensure the business is abreast of the latest technology and techniques
>>QUALIFICATIONS
• Relevant 4-year Honours Degree or equivalent
>>EXPERIENCE
• Minimum of 8 years relevant experience of which at least 3 of those years in a management position
• Experience of large scale heap leach and uranium processing will be an advantage
• Experience of metallurgical databases and modelling software
• Proven experience in project management
