Job title -- Superintendent: Mining engineer – Strategic Planning
Department -- Technical Services, Southern Africa
Position reports to -- Group Mining Engineer
>>PURPOSE
Identification, development and implementation of strategic mine planning and design systems.
>>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function;
• Investigate, recommend and customize mining engineering software for the use of all mining engineers in the organisation, as well as the training of all mining engineers;
• Liaising with consultants to ensure that the standard of mine design and scheduling is acceptable and that software used is in accordance with Company codes of practice and standards;
• Acceptance and implementation of block model data, including the conversion of data into life of mine and strategic planning outputs;
• Liaison with project mining engineers on the establishment of the strategic life of mine plans for the various operations;
• Co-ordination of planning between the long term (LOM) and medium term plans with various stakeholders within the business.
>>QUALIFICATIONS
• Relevant 4-year Honours Degree or equivalent
• Mine Managers’ certificate of competency would be an advantage
• Proficiency in Datamine, M24D, Xpac, NPV scheduler and Talpac
>>EXPERIENCE
• Minimum of 6 years relevant experience of which at least 2 of those years in a supervisory / management capacity
** Please note -- the requirements below are not negotiable for this position:
• Relevant 4 year degree / equivalent (HND – Mining, would be a minimum);
• Mine Managers’ certificate of competency would be an advantage;
• Proficiency in Datamine - other software knowledge preferred; M24D, Xpac, NPV scheduler and Talpac (Datamine being a must/required);
• Minimum of 6-years relevant experience of which at least 2 of those years in a supervisory / management capacity (this requirement would be most advantageous).
