Structural Engineer

Jacobs Associates is a consulting engineering firm, specialising in design and construction management services for tunnelling and underground projects.
Our Melbourne office is looking for a Design Engineer with 3 to 5 years of experience in structural engineering design, along with a desire to specialise in the tunnelling field. This position will work on local projects in the Melbourne area in addition to working on a major tunnel project in Brisbane.

Candidates with a background in the design of tunnels, temporary excavation support systems, and underground structures are preferred. Candidates with a geotechnical background and an interest in supplementing their skill base with structural design would also be considered.

Requirements and Responsibilities

* Bachelor of Engineering with a structural (or geotechnical) emphasis.
* Ability to develop and review designs, drawings, specifications, and technical memoranda
* In addition to design experience, some knowledge of tunnel boring machines, road headers, and microtunnelling equipment would be considered advantageous.
* Strong technical writing skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
* To be eligible to apply for this position you must be an Australian or NZ citizen or resident or have an appropriate Australian or New Zealand work visa.
