Barrick Cowal is a first class, open cut mining operation located in the Bland Shire on the western shore of Lake Cowal, approximately 45km from the town of West Wyalong and about 450km west of Sydney. Many of our team members live in West Wyalong and neighbouring towns, including Forbes and Condobolin and enjoy the easy lifestyle and friendly spirit that only a regional town can offer. In addition to the Cowal Gold Mine, the region’s other operations can be found in Western Australia, Queensland, Tasmania and Papua New Guinea.
The Cowal Gold Mine is seeking to recruit a Senior Production Engineer to fill a key senior role within the Mining Department. This permanent residential role is responsible for establishing, implementing and monitoring mining engineering systems which lead to the optimisation and control of mine planning and production functions of the Open Pit operations. In addition there are daily supervisory functions.

Position Overview:
• Provide motivation and leadership to employees to promote a professional, vigorous and safe working environment, ensuring adherence to all regulatory and industry standard working practices and to maintain order and housekeeping at the highest level.
• Develop procedures, systems and processes for all mining engineering and monitoring functions.
• Supervise, train and assist employees and other personnel in their duties.
• Fulfil the statutory requirements of the Production Manager as required and ensure the respective Barrick, Health & Safety Systems are duly implemented and complied with accordingly.
• Participate in the development and application of working practices and procedures to achieve the highest standard of safety for the Mining Operation.
• Participate in establishing annual goals for the improvement of the Open Pit operations and ensure and monitor compliance of their implementation.
• Provide accurate, systematic and timely mine planning reports of the mining area performance and development needs.
• Relieve the Production Superintendent during periods of his absence as required.
Experience:
* Extensive mining operation experience, excellent communication skills and a proven track record in a Senior Production Engineer position.
* Statutory Mining licences are mandatory
