Barrick is a leading international gold mining company, with a portfolio of 27 operating mines, seven advanced exploration and development projects located across five continents, and a large land position on the world’s best exploration belts.
Plutonic Gold Mine is located approximately 1000km north-east of Perth and is one of Australia’s largest producer’s of gold. We currently produce 140 000 ounces each year from our underground operations. Reserves currently stand at 0.7 million ounces.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a keen and self-motivated Senior Occupational Safety and Health Advisor for our Plutonic operation. The successful appointee will report to the Occupational Safety and Health Superintendent.
Key responsibilities will include the promotion of the site safety system, involvement with the site Mine Rescue Team, shared responsibility for site first aid facility and health promotion.
Essential abilities will include:
• Sound knowledge of the Mines Safety & Inspections Act and Legislation;
• A knowledge of Incident Investigation processes
• Ability to liaise competently within a multi-disciplinary team;
• Must posses the ability to make sound clinical judgment independently.
Essential Skills:
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience, though consideration will be given to those who may have similar or appropriate skills:
• Working towards OHS qualification;
• Mining experience is desirable but other industrial experience will be considered;
• Emergency Response Skill training and experience
• Experience in acute care and competence in a wide range of medical skills;
This position is fly in/fly out from Perth on a 8 days on 6 days off roster. Excellent on-site accommodation is provided. Recreational facilities include internet café, Foxtel, swimming pool, tennis courts and gymnasium.
