Location: Australia Barrick operates the wholly owned Darlot Gold Mine located in the North Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia, approximately 120km north of Leonora. The Darlot Gold Mine produces 120,000 ounces of gold from 800,000 tonnes of ore each year.
Position Overview:
Darlot Gold Mine is seeking to employ a highly motivated leader who will drive the geology team by providing direction and technical expertise. You will be required to give geological input into mine design to maximise recovery, whilst providing an effective production reporting system and reconciliations. Reporting directly to the Geology Superintendent the appointee will primarily be responsible for:
• Promotion of site safety, environmental and continuous improvement activities.
• Coordination and management of daily geological activities within a large underground production workforce.
• Provision of technical assistance and training to all geological personnel.
• Planning, scheduling and management of short and medium geological projects.
• Geological and block modelling.
• Monthly and annual mine to mill reconciliation.
• Supervision of underground diamond drilling programs.
• Establishment of clearly defined geological systems and standard operating procedures.
• Alternate supervisory responsibilities as required.
Requirements:
• Tertiary qualifications in Geology.
• Extensive experience in an underground mining environment, preferably in Gold
• Significant knowledge of grade control procedures, practices and resource estimation techniques.
• Excellence in interacting with multi technical and production departments.
• Be flexible and able to respond/complete requested projects within required deadlines.
• A high degree of computer literacy with Surpac software experience desirable.
• A demonstrated commitment to continual improvement, team success and safe work practices
Darlot Gold Mine operation is fly in/fly out from Perth on an 8 days on, 6 days off roster. On-site accommodation, including all messing facilities, is provided. Recreational activities include internet café, Foxtel television, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, gymnasium and golf driving net.
