Position Overview:
Barrick is fast becoming one of the largest operators in PNG. With the Kainantu acquisition, Barrick now has access to over 5,300 square kilometers of contiguous ground for exploration in one of the world’s most highly endowed gold and copper regions.

The primary purpose of the Senior Exploration Geologist PNG is to conduct exploration activity on and assist in generating quality projects within PNG, with the objective of discovery of new and economically viable gold deposits that will have a significant impact on the company’s earnings and growth, as safely, quickly and as frequently as possible in line with Barrick’s core values.
Specifically you will:
• Execute and report exploration activities on projects in PNG
• Supervision and training of PNG Exploration Geologists.
• Actively contribute in a technical capacity to the Project Generation programme in PNG resulting in the acquisition of new quality projects for the exploration pipeline.
• Contribute and assist in the replacement, growth and improvement in quality of reserves and resources on Barrick mining projects in PNG.
Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science (Geology), preferably with honours or higher
• Minimum 10 years relevant experience; including geological interpretative skills
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, community and environment
• Good communication, administration & leadership skills.
• Understanding and recognition of mineralisation models and geological processes
• Understanding of economic parameters of mining operations
• Integration skills of multi-disciplinary datasets
